About AcousticPlayer.eu

Some words about the author and this website.

Hello, my name is Gianluca and I'm based in Rome, Italy.

The very first introduction to music I had was thanks to my father. I was 6 years old and in a tipical italian late aftertnoon, after my home works, he introduced me in a very solemn way to the first listening of my life: "La marcia trionfale dell'Aida" by Giuseppe Verdi. He was a self-made marching band player (bass trumpet) and chorist and by the end of his life he gave me a pianola as a xmas present, it was the first musical instrument I got my hands and ears on.

Years later, I felt like start learning guitar after I saw someone playing a famous rock song arpeggio on an italian acoustic 'Eko' guitar, it happened in the outdoor and the song was "Stairway to Heaven". To my teen-ager ears, that polyphonic simple arpeggio sounded like a great place to go and stay. So I did and my life was saved.

I whish I could say "I'm a professional guitar player and..." but I can't. I whish I could say "I studied music at..." but I can't and since I'm not really interested in feeding whishes I just kept playing guitar since when I was 16 or 17.

Life is challenging with everyone of us and every experience in life is a chance for learning. I had times in which I could only play a few chords on my beloved electrics, and times when I almost gave up with music and put it away but it just didn't work. No matter if I'm not a professional player, everyone can keep up with music at all levels.

While I was keeping my hands and ears warm with some daily blues/rock on my electrics, during mid 2011 I started getting interested in acoustic music, guitars and players, mainly folk and some experimental player from the 90's. In 2013, after almost two years searching, I bought my 2004 Martin D-35, used, it was mutual love at first sight. And my life changed, in better.

What this website is and what should never be.

I didn't want to make a website as a professional reference to anyone, or a place pretending to teach anybody 'selling lessons' or spreading 'instructional videos'. I felt like sharing views and experiences, songs, words and music, home recording, guitar players and whatever else I feel like is good to share about mainly acoustic guitar while never being too serious.

This website is developed by myself, except for html/css/js free themes I used.
I have no affiliations with none of the makers, players, brands or else I could cite or write about on this website, and what I express is in my taste and freedom of speech whith much respect of other's freedom of life.
